Fernando brought me to the Arpoador Beach which is at the end of Copacabana and start of Ipanema Beach. We did a little walk up the rock area to admire the view. Then we parked it on the sand (I was kinda tired of walking about 1 mile, maybe less). We were just in time for the sunset. You get a little more of the sun here as in Copacabana, it sets behind the buildings. Brazilians love the sun, as they tan and face the sun (turning away from the sea to get the sun) and promptly pack up to leave once the sun goes away.
Fernando and I are more cautious of the sun nowadays, hence we bought our own umbrella.
We sat and watched our first sunset and it was beautiful.
This beach was rough and is popular with surfers. The image above seems to be my most popular picture yet with friends on Facebook. I like it too.
I finally figured out that those two unique mountain peaks are called Dois Irmãos (“two brothers”). I love them. You can hike up there (difficult) and have to pass through a favela. Observing them from here is good enough for us.
Can't complain too much.
We then walked to Leblon for dinner. At the end of the night, we walked back to Copacabana. In all, we walked over 5 miles that day. I want to get a pedometer.
